One of Aurora’s most notable and distinctive
landmarks is the E.B. Morgan House, former home of Colonel Edwin Barber Morgan
and his family. Morgan, who also built the Aurora Inn, originally constructed
this beautiful lakeside estate in 1858-1859. The E.B. Morgan House remained the
private home of the Morgan family until 1961, when it was given as a gift to Wells
College. Since then, it has served as both lodging for students as well as
for guests of the college.
The
E.B. Morgan House recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation and has
now re-opened under the management of the Aurora Inn as a distinctive facility
for lodging, weddings and special events, and business meetings and executive
retreats. The recent renovation has restored the mansion to its former grandeur,
making it an exquisite lodging option for guests. Thoroughly modernized, the E.B.
Morgan House remains a jewel in the crown of Aurora and a living reminder of one
of our village’s most distinguished citizens.
