Sixth Annual Aurora Inn Father's Day BBQ
On Sunday, June 20th, the Aurora Inn presents the Sixth Annual Father’s Day Barbeque – a classic American Barbeque featuring live Dixieland jazz, lawn games, and fantastic food on the shore of Cayuga Lake. This popular event draws many families that return year after year to celebrate Dad.

Enjoy the lake by taking out a kayak or canoe or simply fishing from the 100’ dock. Borrow a baseball glove or Frisbee for a game of catch or join us for potato sack races on the lawns. A bicycle built for two is available for a tandem tour of the historic lakeside Village of Aurora.

Between activities, feast on St. Louis BBQ Ribs and Cornell Chicken hot off the grill, plus Corn on the Cob, Baked Beans, Hot Dogs, Freshly baked Cookies and Brownies, Watermelon, and much more.

Admission (all you can eat): $24 adults; $12 children 12 years and under

First Friday At 5pm For 45: Peachtown Poetry Slam
Visit the Aurora Arts & Design Center for its montly first Friday event. This month, the event features a poetry slam from the students of Peacthown Elementary School. Light refreshments and fun for all! 10% of the evening's sales will benefit local arts & education programs.

Elmira Prison Camp: the Andersonville of the North
"If ever there was a hell on earth, Elmira prison was that," is a quote from a Confederate soldier after the Civil War. Charles Snyder, professor, story-teller and historic tour guide, will lead the audience back to the time of the Civil War to expose the happenings at Elmira Prison and explore the reasons the prison existed. The talk will also touch on examples of other prisoner-of-war camps and their stories.

The Andrew and Noah VanNorstrand Band
This exceptionally talented duo has been playing the Morgan Opera House since they were kids. Andrew and Noah are accomplished singers. songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists, focusing on twin fiddles, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, and banjo. Their original music blends old-time Country and Bluegrass, Celtic and Contra, Swing and Jazz, alternative folk rock, and various world music influences with daring improvisation and intricate arrangements. The six-piece ensemble adds accordian, bass and drums, as well as Noah's wife, Kailyn Wright, on vocals.

Nancy Crow: Recent and New Work
The quilts of world renowned artist Nancy Crow will be featured in a solo exhibition of her work at the Schweinfurth Art Center May 29 - Aug 15, 2010. Nancy Crow has been the most significant quilt artist in the country for the past 20 years and has been a leader in promoting and establishing quilting as a medium on par with other fine arts.

Known for her mastery of color, line and shape and her groundbreaking, improvisational approach to quilting, she has had a major impact on contemporary quilting. In 1996, she received the National Living Treasure award from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In 1999 she was named a Fellow of the American Craft Council, NY, NY. Her work is in the collections of major museums including the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; the Museum of Arts & Design, NYC; and the Museum of American Folk Art, NYC.
